Corrections Policy and Error Reporting | SATCOM Index

SATCOM Index welcomes specific, evidence-based corrections. Our objective is to correct material errors transparently while distinguishing technical mistakes from differences in terminology, modeling assumptions, or editorial judgment.

How to submit a correction

Email contact@satcomindex.com and include:

• the complete page URL;
• the heading, quotation, formula, table row, or figure concerned;
• why it is incorrect or misleading;
• the proposed correction;
• a primary or authoritative source, including version and locator when possible;
• the conditions under which the correction applies; and
• any relevant relationship to a named product, operator, standard, or organization.

Do not send passwords, network credentials, confidential carrier plans, non-public customer data, or export-controlled material.

Assessment

We evaluate:

1. whether the report identifies a testable claim;
2. whether the cited source supports the proposed correction;
3. whether the source is current and applicable to the stated product, region, configuration, or date;
4. whether the disagreement results from different units, reference planes, path definitions, or assumptions; and
5. whether related pages or translations repeat the same issue.

We may ask for clarification. Submission does not guarantee that a change will be made, but commercial pressure, advertising status, or the submitter's affiliation does not determine the outcome.

Priority

• Urgent: content that could encourage unauthorized transmission, unsafe field work, serious regulatory misunderstanding, or a materially incorrect engineering result.
• Material: wrong formula, unit, source interpretation, product status, path definition, comparison conclusion, or exact number that affects understanding.
• Minor: spelling, grammar, formatting, or wording that does not change the technical meaning.

Urgency describes impact, not a guaranteed response time.

How changes are disclosed

For a material correction, we aim to:

• update the affected statement, formula, table, or example;
• update the page's latest-revision date;
• describe the material change in the page change summary;
• replace or add the claim-level source;
• recompute dependent results; and
• check linked and translated pages for the same error.

Minor copyedits may be made without a public correction note when meaning is unchanged. Material errors should not be hidden by changing only the date.

Retractions and disputed claims

If a page's central conclusion cannot be supported, we may substantially revise, unpublish, redirect, or mark it non-indexable after preserving an internal record and reviewing search/user impact. We do not redirect unrelated material merely to preserve traffic.

When authoritative sources disagree, the page should describe the disagreement, dates, definitions, and applicability rather than present one value as universally settled.

Attribution and privacy

We do not publish a correction submitter's name or correspondence without permission. A public acknowledgment may be added when the contributor requests it and attribution is appropriate.
