Our mission, independence, and editorial approach

SATCOM Index is an independent technical knowledge base for satellite communications. We publish practical explanations, terminology, system comparisons, and browser-based engineering calculators for learners, engineers, operators, and decision-makers.

Who writes and reviews the content

SatCom Index is an organizational byline. It identifies the site as responsible for preparing and maintaining a page; it is not the name or credential of an individual engineer.

We display a separate named technical reviewer only after verifying the person's identity, relevant experience, review scope, content version, and permission to be credited. If an article does not show a reviewer card, it does not claim review by a named expert. We will not fill that gap with a placeholder identity.

Our editorial approach

Our goal is to make complex SATCOM topics understandable without losing the assumptions and limitations that matter. We aim to:

  • base technical claims on public standards, primary documentation, and clearly identified sources;
  • distinguish established facts from estimates or editorial interpretation;
  • show assumptions and units in calculators and encourage independent verification;
  • review content for technical consistency and update it when material errors or changes are identified;
  • correct substantiated errors transparently.
